How Is Marijuana Made?

You may have wondered how is marijuana made. Marijuana is extracted from the dried flowers of the cannabis plant and used for recreational purposes. Marijuana is known by many other names including weed, ganja, pot, and reefer. Some people smoke marijuana in hand-rolled cigarettes known as joints, while others consume it by ingesting it or smoking it through water pipes. In recent years, marijuana has been infiltrated into foods and edibles. ny state marijuana card signup

Cannabis contains about 120 active ingredients, some of which are psychoactive. The ingredients used depend on the manufacturer and the purpose for which marijuana is consumed. The most abundant cannabinoids are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). These two compounds produce both euphoric and psychoactive effects. Despite the controversial nature of cannabis, however, studies have largely focused on CBD and THC.

Cannabis is an annual flowering herb with a stiff fibrous stalk called bast or hurd. Hemp fibers are woven into fabrics, including canvas. This material has been used for centuries to make ship sails. Its seed is used for many other uses, including food, and hemp oil is used for making paint and paper. Both hemp seed and oil contain trace amounts of psychoactive chemicals. However, the products produced by the cannabis plant are legal in the U.S.

Cannabis is produced by vegetatively propagated plants. The plants are first grown under a 24 h photoperiod for four weeks, then switched to a 12-14 h light/12-h dark regime. Figure 1A shows a cannabis plant transitioning to the reduced lighting regime. The plant in Figure 1B develops large terminal inflorescence clusters. Cannabis flowers produce white hair-like stigmas on the inside of the female inflorescence.

The cannabis plant produces THC, the chemical responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana. THC binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, including those that control pleasure, time perception, and pain. Its binding to these receptors triggers a chain reaction that releases dopamine, which is the body’s reward system. However, marijuana can be smoked and poses the same health risks as tobacco.

Marijuana seeds come from hermaphrodites that produce feminized seeds. The cannabis industry uses the feminized seed to produce pot. The feminized seeds are more likely to produce higher-quality cannabis. Cannabis seeds can be sold as a recreational drug in stores. When you buy marijuana, you should never be under any illusions about the plant’s origins. The plant’s genetics are closely related to that of other plants.
